Acute CareOur Acute Psychiatric Care program is a 25 bed program for children and adolescents ages 5-17. The criteria for admission to Acute Psychiatric Care at Diamond Grove Center contain numerous elements that must be met which are specific, detailed, flexible and essential to consider an appropriate admission. The general and specific guidelines for admission to Acute Psychiatric Care are outlined below. Based upon information obtained from the patient and parent/legal guardian during the intake/initial screening process, the admission nurse reviews the clinical history and presenting symptoms of the prospective patient with a physician prior to closure of the screening interview. The physician's consultation is an appraisal of whether the person's impairment warrants a psychiatric diagnosis (as defined by the DSM-IV), whether the person should be admitted for intensive psychiatric treatment and whether the anticipated treatment can be provided adequately within the scope of Diamond Grove Center’s resources and capabilities.
